Blending epic pop rock guitar lines with powerful yet intimate vocal melodies, cry red’s fusion of contemporary indie pop rock with traditional rock echoes global influences from U2 to Coldplay to Muse. The result is a catalogue of songs breathing heartfelt words and infectious melodies. Emerging in the middle of a recession, 2009 was not an obvious time for reckless career choices, but it was their opportunity to challenge a commercial market heavily populated by urban synth and diva pop with their enduring pop rock songs.

Following earlier exposure on BBC Radio Kent, a clutch of demo’s penned by guitarist Anthony Hutchins had drawn attention from London based publisher Respect Music. With a deal agreed shortly afterwards, through a combination of good fortune and internet classifieds, Jayson Keeler, Ed Boateng and Brazilian maestro Bruno Centofanti joined Anthony and former school friend Dom Peyton to complete the line up of cry red.

The new band members brought fresh energy to a catalogue of material ; Jayson’s commanding yet soulful vocals and Bruno’s grand but passionate guitar supported by a consistent and dependable backline of drummer Ed and bassist Dom.

Playing to live audiences by mid 2009, cry red’s passionate and energetic show quickly elevated the band from backrooms of pubs to prestigious live venues such as The 100 Club, recognised by Music Awards Promoter of the Year, Feedmemusic:

“It’s always good when you find a band that you know are going places, the 5 piece teamed epic stadium rock sounding guitars with melodic vocals to create powerful songs that filled the venue. Every track had the crowd’s attention. They finished with ‘Closer’, catchy enough to stay in my head the entire journey home, but not so much that I ended up hating it by the morning. These boys are definitely one to watch”.

Intent on getting the band into the studio, cry red recorded a number of tracks with producer Chris Potter (The Verve, The Feeling, Sound of Guns) at Metropolis and Kore Studios in London during March 2010. With additional arrangements by Tim Wills (Ian Brown) and Steve Sidelnyk (Madonna), songs “Closer” and “History” scream epic from the start.

cry red are now preparing for a release and you can next catch them live  at 229, Venue 1, Great Portland Street on Friday 13th August 2010.
