WHO IS ART FORD, FOUNDER OF FORD MUSIC SERVICES:

  • Ford Music Services was formed in January 2001 by eight-year BMG Music Publishing film & television music marketing innovator Art Ford.  As Vice President of Film & Television Music at BMG, Ford increased BMG’s synchronization and soundtrack mechanical revenues over 400% utilizing new marketing techniques.  He pioneered music publishing’s first song search system in 1993 by launching the ground breaking 1-888-BMG-SONG preview system (pre-Internet.)  The system set a new standard in the industry for marketing songs.   In 1999, Ford created the Sundance Film Festival’s first official music showcase called “Where Music Meets Film – Live From The Sundance Film Festival,” which was a VH-1 television special produced in association with Robert Redford and The Sundance Institute. Art created the showcase to give major and emerging recording artists the opportunity to interact with many of the world’s most notable filmmakers to explore future soundtracks.  Due to the tremendous success of the 1999 music showcases, it has now become an annual event at Sundance.  Artists such as Joss Stone, The BeeGees, Josh Groban, Babyface, Michelle Branch, Joan Osbourne, Lindsey Buckingham and many others have performed.  Art utilised the advertising community’s Clio Awards to market BMG’s song catalogue’s to the advertising community by hosting music panels and sponsoring music related events as the first exclusive music sponsor for the Clio Awards.  No music publisher or record label had ever used the Clios to gain exposure for their music catalogue’s before.  As a result of Ford’s reputation in the synchronization area, in January of 2002 he was brought in as the Music Supervisor for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
